What a great day with Andy! Thoroughly enjoyed it. Very knowledgeable instructor. I feel I took a great deal from the day. Any questions that I had were answered with confidence.

Highly recommended! Cheers Ride Safe. Shane

Carl

A sunny Saturday on the roads. As a professional driver, Carl has accumulated a huge amount of car-miles and experience in dealing with road situations. As a born again biker, he realised that things can look different from the perspective of the two wheels.

Our work was focused on using the additional tools afforded to bikers – view, position and acceleration. A very enjoyable and fruitful day. Carl’s own words:

I am a 59 year old rider returning to riding for the first time in almost 3 decades. I have been riding for a few months and wanted some pointers to make it safer, more pleasurable and less stressful. … Andy is a very knowledgeable guy, very easy to talk to, the running commentary over the intercom is extremely good. He is a great communicator and I couldn’t recomend this course enough. I hope I can turn this into practice every time I go out. Thank you Andy, you are a star.”

Eifion

Another hot sunny day on the roads of Shropshire and Wales. Eifion has passed his IAM /advanced test several years ago, and undertakes regular training to keep his skills in check. A commendable attitude!

As expected from an advanced rider, the session was mostly around fine tuning the application of Roadcraft principles in various situations, focusing on the thinking and priorities applied to road positioning.

I was pleased at the feedback below:

“…Would highly recommend him…. Communications before, during and after training day were excellent. Doesn’t matter how long you have been riding, I recommend every rider does this course one a year / two years – to keep on top of your skills and avoid bad habits! Great training day with Andy”

Keith

A fantastic training day with Keith, in full sunshine and hot May weather.

At 75 (!), having passed his test only a year or so ago and already having done some serious long distance touring, he believes there is always room for improvement. The session was mostly about reassurance and polishing his skills. As Keith puts it succinctly:

“An enjoyable and very useful day. Andy is an excellent instructor/assessor.”

Peter

One of the most rewarding things I see over a coaching day is confidence steadily building as decisions start to feel more natural.

Pete came to the day with a very strong background — experienced, methodical, and already comfortable with observation and structure. What made the difference wasn’t more theory, but reinforcing good decisions in real time and letting confidence catch up with capability.

He put it simply:

“My confidence grew throughout the day thanks to your excellent coaching.
I’m now aiming for my advanced qualification and a bigger bike next year.”

Progress doesn’t come from hero rides — it comes from calm, consistent improvements.

Rhi

A full day of riding in mixed weather conditions. We focused on decisions around positioning and speed, driven by early observation and hazard perception. The result speaks for itself:

“What a day of riding with Andy.

We experienced rain and shine but that just made the ERS more realistic. The format of the day was clear from the get go and having comms through the ride really was beneficial.

Being able to discuss situations as they happened was really valuable and I felt my riding style shift over the day. Andy is very concise with feedback and provided examples when he was leading. A good mix of general conversation and teaching moments.

It truly was an invaluable day and I would recommend it to anyone as there’s always something new to learn.

Thank you!!!”
