Advanced motorcycle training day out
Meticulous planning meets fun.
Advanced riding training plan tailored to your needs

1. Preparation
We will have an initial conversation on the phone. Once we agree the training date and time, I will email you a one page document to pre-read that will help us save time during the briefing. After all, we both want to go for a ride…
2. Briefing
We meet at pre-agreed time and place. We will have a chat about your riding experience and set the objectives of the day.
We will do some pre-ride checks to ensure that both you and your machine are all good to go.
We will set up the comms – if you don’t have a compatible communications device, I will give you an intercom that enables one-way communication (me to you).
We will discuss the route before we set off.
3. Assessment ride
Time to go on the road!
I will follow you for around 60 to 90 minutes to understand your riding strengths and areas for development. We will cover various road types and traffic conditions. I will give you directions via intercom.
We will then stop at a local café for a debrief.
4. Debrief
During the debrief we will discuss some pertinent theory, and then focus on your ride.
If you already meet the ERS standard, you will have earned your completion certificate at this point. The rest of the day will become optional for you, as you don’t need any further training (although I will still ride with you for the day if you so wish). Otherwise, we will discuss your areas for development and agree a plan how to address any issues.
5. Demonstration ride with commentary
We go back on the road. This time, you will follow me for about 30 to 60 minutes.
During the ride, I will give you live commentary via intercom, explaining what I see on the road and how it impacts my actions as a rider.
We will stop at another local café, helping ourselves to cup of tea or coffee and some refreshments if required. We will discuss the demonstration ride and agree next steps.
6. Practice
We will focus on the areas of your riding that require development.
Typically we will alternate the lead, and I will give you hints via intercom where required. Whenever I take the lead, I may give you live commentary again.
When the time is right, we will break for lunch at – you guessed it – another local café.
7. Reinforce the improvements
In this phase, we will concentrate on solidifying the learnings.
I will typically follow you for a while, so that I can see that the improvements have taken hold.
We may need to arrange another day or two for that part – up to two follow up days are included in the training price.
8. Wrap up
Congratulations! The training is completed. I will notify DVSA and you will get the completion certificate via email from them on the same day.
I will also email you a detailed training report within a week of completion of your training. The report will cover your strengths and areas for development, as well the progress you made during the training.
